Tripadvisor Traveller Rating
1053 reviewsStickle Ghyll is a ghyll scramble we run in the beautiful Langdale valley. This location is suitable for children from age 9 years and adults. It's the only ghyll scramble/canyon location we use where it can run dry when we have weeks of no rain. The other locations are unaffected by this. This also means when all our other locations are too dangerous to enter due to high water levels, we can usually still enter Stickle safely using ropes and harnesses to keep everyone safe. So this location can vary from being just good fun for most people, to being on the extreme/wild side and being group dependant. As water levels can drop and rise throughout a week (through being low one day to high) it's pretty pointless asking days in advance what the water levels are like.
So what will you be doing if you book this location? You will be ascending the gorge, doing various challenges along the way. These include waterfall climbs, a jump, falling backwards into pools and other exciting things along the way. Obstacles/challenges are optional so it's a good choice if you have a more apprehensive person in the group that wishes to miss the odd thing out. It's a fairly strenuous outing as you end up quite high up when you finish, with a spectacular view over the valley- unless it's bad weather! We don't rush you along up the gorge though, it's not boot camp! We take a minimum of two people out, individuals are welcome to book on and join others. Drop us an email to check. We have online booking via our website. We put 8 spaces up online, if there are more of you get in touch with us and we can accommodate you in your own group.
