Often described as the friendliest and most beautiful UK marathon.
This wonderful and undulating road marathon takes place every year in May. It's a 26.2 mile anti-clockwise circuit of Windermere through the villages of Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside, finishing at Brathay Hall with stunning views over England's largest lake.
Over half the course is run on partially traffic-free roads or roads with a dedicated running lane. It has outstanding local support and, to top it all, you get to see the inspirational Brathay 10in10 runners completing their final marathon.
